Details

No garden, whatever its size, is free of plant problems such as pests, diseases and cultural (abiotic) disorders. In this workshop, you will learn methods to keep your plants healthy and prevent problems by making your plants more able to withstand potentially harmful organisms.

Learn about appropriate plant choices, favorable growing conditions, and good gardening practices. But when the inevitable problem does develop, you will want to be able to identify and control what specifically has damaged your plant.

Presented by Penn State Master Gardener Silloo Kapadia. Silloo has served as chair of the Garden Hotline and in 2018 earned the Penn State MG certification in Woody Plant Identification. Silloo obtained her Phipps Master Gardener certification in 2007 and the Phipps Certificate of Sustainable Horticulture in 2013.

She is a member and past Chair of the Western PA Unit of the Herb Society of America with an interest in Culinary Herbs and Spices. Silloo is a retired physician and Professor of Pathology. She acquired her medical degree at Chennai, and did her Pathology residency at UPMC.
